We have professional coaches for equestrian and polo and we also invite experts to conduct training clinics which expose our members to new techniques of the sport.  The total number of horses owned by the Club is 30 – which includes a mix of thoroughbreds,  warm-blooded and Indian breeds.

During the racing season, from November to April, there will be no riding on race day evenings and Monday mornings. From May to October, there will also be no riding on Mondays. Click here to read the rules of riding.

Other activities and events

    • Polo:

Polo is played regularly from November to May, and Arena Polo is played during other months as well – weather permitting!

    • Gymkhana races:

Every year in the month of May, the club conducts Gymkhana races where club members & amateur jockeys from Mumbai, Matheran, and even Bangalore participate.  Since the last few years after the last RWITC races in April, we have been holding one race per day for our members who ride our club horses.

    • Sports (activities organized while riders are mounted on horses):

Throughout the year we organise mounted sports as well as equestrian sports. Monsoon Sports are keenly contested by our younger members, and fortnightly competitions are held as often as possible.

    • Outrides:

Outrides to various places are frequently organized every year. ARC members are taken to INS Hamla, Jaipur, Marve & the National Defence Academy, Pune for outrides.

    • Clinics:

Every year we invite select equine experts to conduct training clinics for our members. These professionals expose our members to new and up-to-date training techniques.

    • Riding Camps:

We organise 10-day-riding camps every fortnight for the benefit of non members. These camps are an introductory service to familiarise people with horse riding. Fees are Rs. 10,350/- including 15% Service Tax. For more details on the camp kindly call Amateur Riders’ Club Office.

  • Hippotherapy

In our Hippotherapy sessions we make use of the movement of the horse as a treatment strategy in physical, and speech-language therapy sessions for people living with disabilities. Hippotherapy has been shown to improve muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination, motor development as well as emotional well-being.

      • Annual Horse Show :

Held in March / April, every year this is the main event of the season. Club members and competitors from all over the world take part in Dressage, Show Jumping, Cross country & Tent Pegging competitions. Polo tournaments are held back to back & club teams, the Indian Army, Navy and Civilian teams from other Equestrian Centers in India of varying handicaps play against each other.
